Hello from Missing People & IR Team
Missing People UK is a community-led platform that helps families, friends and neighbours raise fast, focused awareness when someone goes missing. We combine a live map, searchable database, Amber Alerts and printable posters to get the right information in front of the right people, as quickly as possible.
Built and maintained as a not-for-profit project, the platform is designed to work alongside, not instead of, the police and specialist charities. Our priority is always safeguarding, privacy and dignity for the people involved.
How it works
We designed the platform to stay clear during high-stress situations, with one central flow from report to public awareness to verified follow-up.
Add a recent photo, name, age and last-seen location so the case can be identified and shared clearly.
Pins and halos help people spot priority information quickly, while the case page becomes the source of truth.
Sightings and updates are routed to authorised admins to support coordinated response and reduce misinformation.
Case edits, alerts and printable posters stay linked so communities can keep sharing current, usable details.
Halo and map pin colours
We use colour-coded halos and map pins to make it easier to understand risk at a glance while you browse.
- 🔴 Red halo / pin: Under 18 (Amber-style alert) – children and young people where time is especially critical.
- 🟡 Yellow halo / pin: 65+ or elderly – older adults who may be confused, vulnerable or at higher risk outdoors.
- 🟢 Green halo / pin: Mental health concerns – people where there are known mental health or wellbeing risks.
- 🔵 Blue halo / pin: General missing cases and other situations that don’t fit the above categories.
These colours are there to help focus attention — they do not replace official risk assessments made by the police or safeguarding teams.
